6 Things You Should Know About Global Warming
1. All the ice in our planet is melting.
The ice in both the North Pole and the South Pole is melting due to the Greenhouse Effect. This will also affect species. The polar bears will become extinct due to no ice to habbitat extinction. Once the ice melts, the polar bears will have to swim. Polar bears are not meant for swimming, so they will not survive. Also, since the water in the South Pole will become hotter and hotter over time, the fish living there will start swimming away in order to find colder water. This will make the penguins either follow the fish and die, or stay there without the fish and die. There will be a total loss of three species; maybe even more than that, JUST in the Arctic.
2. Global Warming is starting to become artificial.
The main reason why we are even in a Global Warming is because of all the artificially-made pollution that all us humans are causing. Think about it—we use cars almost everyday, burning gasoline (carbon monoxide) in them, and also using electricity, which also is a fossil fuel. People aren’t recycling enough nowadays, plus a majority of the world is not using solar energy, which scientifically is the least-known-polluting energy we have discovered so far. If we were to use solar power all the time, we wouldn’t have to be dealing with all these problems and worries that we have now. People need to go green, recycle, reuse, and convert to solar.
3. Global Warming is causing weather disasters
Global Warming is not only causing heat, but making the weather become different, or unnatural. There will be different disasters in each area, depending on where you live in the world. Hurricanes are coming to certain parts of the world. They will be destroying houses and other buildings, causing car wrecks, and flipping cars over. They might come were there never ever was a hurricane before. Also, since the ice is melting, major floods will be occurring all over the world. Some people say that where we live (California), in the future, will become an island, and break apart from the rest of the United States. The Bay Area of California will become flooded, and sink to the floor of the ocean. Floods will be coming all over the world, bringing the world to about 78-84% water, and 16-22% land.
It sounds terrifying, not just to me, but to everyone. Apart from those two things, there is one more: droughts. Mostly in the Western region of the United States, there are now a lot of droughts. California is now also in a drought, along with Arizona, partly in Nevada, and some other states. They are on STRICT water conservations, just to save water, especially since we are very low on water supply. Some people say there will only be enough water to last California for one more year. You can only water your lawn 3 times a week, on certain days, depending on where you live. According to the law, you now have to water it sometime (3 days a week only) between 7 p.m.-9 p.m., so the water won’t evaporate and we can save it. Some people, however, are just leaving their lawns unwatered and replacing it with bushes, fruits, trees, and rocks. It is still unknown what the best thing is to do, especially since grass DOES help cool down the temperature. Think about it: use up water while in a drought and have cooler weather? Or don’t use water in the drought and replace it with either artificial or natural things?
4. Our planet is warming up
This is the biggest cause to the destruction of our planet. Thanks to the heat, our ice is melting, weather is changing, and the planet is warming. The main reason that the world is heating up is because of all the fossil fuels that we are releasing, especially carbon monoxide. This gas gets released through cars, trains, buses, pick-ups, and trucks. This carbon monoxide gets burned through gasoline and diesel. Carbon monoxide also gets released through electricity, which is a HUGE part of our lives. These gases are poisonous to living things, and are artificial to us. This is known as The Greenhouse Effect. The Greenhouse Effect is a cycle that makes carbon monoxide and all other man-made gases make the world heat up. These greenhouse gases absorb heat. We have the Ozone layer, which protects us from the sun’s radiation. However, certain chemicals are making the Ozone disappear, so the Earth is heating, since more radiation is coming. Since greenhouse gases absorb heat, they will be absorbing the radiation. This is what causes heating of the Earth—Global Warming.
5. Who knows what we’ll do?
Global Warming is becoming so intense, and so serious, that there might be no way to stop it, since we’ve already been polluting since the days of Ancient Rome. Scientists are finding methane in ice, and are assuming it’s from around 2,000 years ago. Some scientists say that Earth is so polluted that a lot of people are giving up. They also say that we might have to move to another planet, such as Mars.
However, Mars is full of poisonous gases, so we can’t go there. Another thing humans could do is all convert to solar power, because solar energy is the energy that pollutes the least out of all the energies. The only problem is that it is too expensive, so people aren’t converting to it. If the prices would decrease, then a lot of people would buy it. Our problem is that humans only care about money, and not about the environment. So who knows what we’ll do? Will we move to another planet? Will we ever find a way to avoid the consequences of global warming? Will we all start converting to solar energy? No one knows, for now.
6. What can you do?
Global Warming sounds pretty bad, right? So what can you do about it? You can spread the news, tell everyone you know about it, especially the dangers. Some ways you can help is: don’t waste water, don’t waste electricity when you don’t need it, recycle, walk instead of ride, there are a bunch of things you can do. But listen people: if we don’t act fast, things will get even worse than we know. The world as we know it will change forever, as pollution is increasing more and more and more.

Not Failing in School
Staying a successful student (to me) is a very important task, not just in school, but in life. Being in school along with getting good grades will most likely allow me to get into college. After getting a degree, I will have a job where I can really earn money from. For those people who think school is unimportant, they’re wrong. School helps—not just for learning—but for getting a job. Jobs are just as important as school, for they become a major part of your life. WIthout a job, you can’t earn money. Without money, you can’t afford things and will become homeless. Being homeless with no money means that you will lose everything, including your life. You will die. To me, life is very important, especially since we only have one, so we have to take advantage in it, and have fun while we still have it. Who knows what happens at the end of life? No one. That’s why it becomes necessary to get a job, and more importantly, go to school and get good grades.
